The object of research is economic security as a condition and an integral attribute of the national economy. The subject of the study is inertia, as the state of the economic system at the time of countering external economic pressure. The purpose of the study is to consider the mechanism of countering sanctions pressure from the standpoint of the inertia of the economic response within the framework of the national economic security strategy. The study reveals that the current state of the national economy is due to the inertia of economic responses in response to economic pressure and the sanctions policy of unfriendly countries and there is actually no mechanism for preventive and preventive counteraction to external economic threats, which negatively affects the overall state of national security of economic
