This is due to the fact that the execution of a sentence is the most important act of justice, which is based on the constitutional principles of criminal proceedings, representing a complex legal structure. The purpose of the work is a comprehensive study of the institution of execution of the sentence, determination of its effectiveness at each historical stage of development, identification of errors in the structure of the institute, development of proposals for their elimination. To achieve this research goal, the author analyzed the domestic legislation of various years and the legislation of some foreign countries. I got acquainted with the scientific theory and the result of the empirical material of the Institute of execution of the sentence.
