ONTOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND ETYMOLOGICAL SOURCES OF SPIRITUAL TRUTH BY P. A. FLORENSKY<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

The purpose of the article is to reveal the ontological nature of Spiritual Truth and its etymological sources. The methodological basis of the research is represented by a combination of the historical-genetic method and the method of hermeneutical reconstruction. The lexical structure and content of the archaic terms \u00abestina\u00bb and \u00abaletheia\u00bb (\u03b1\u03bb\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1), their influence on truth as a living integral organism, spiritualizing cognizable reality, are considered. The idea is substantiated that Florensky, in order to prove the divine status of archaic truth, also proceeded from the Platonic etymology of aletheia, meaning the human striving for existence. The difference between Florensky’s and Heidegger’s understanding of aletheia along the line of oblivion is clarified\/concealment. The strategy of Florensky’s overcoming the limitations of rationalism (antinomianism of reason) and empiricism (isolation of perception) by appealing to Spiritual truth as the Trinity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is revealed.<\/p>\r\n
